Liverpool City Library is subject to the New South Wales Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998.
What information do we collect automatically?
When you look at the Library website, our computers record your visit and log the following information for statistical purposes:
- your Internet server or IP address
- your top level domain name (e.g. .com, .gov, .au etc)
- the date and time of your visit to the site
- the pages accessed and documents downloaded
- the address of the resource which provided the link followed, if any, to the Library website
What we do with the information?
The anonymous information collected during each request is collated for analysis. It is then evaluated to discern usage patterns and identify popular sections of the website. This helps us to improve our website and our services.
The Library will not disclose or publish personal information.
No attempt will be made to identify you or your browsing activities from these records except in the unlikely event of an investigation, or where a law enforcement agency exercises a warrant to inspect the Internet Service Provider's logs, or any access that attempts to damage or infect the web site or use it for any illegal purpose.
The Library reserves the right to make disclosures to relevant authorities where the use of our website raises concern that an offence is being, or has been, committed.
Access to the raw data on the web server is restricted to the limited number of staff who analyse and report on the data.
We will only record your email address if you send us a message. It will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and unless legally required to do so we will not disclose it without your consent.
How do we deal with Information Requests?
A record of your enquiry will be collected for statistical purposes only, to determine usage and provide information for future improvements. No personal details are provided to any other individual or organisation.
